A Face Across Worlds by Kallaya Pechpong
Kallaya’s work is rooted in childhood memories and imaginative play. Inspired by the joy of dressing up paper dolls and envisioning journeys to distant places, she brings those youthful dreams to life through visual storytelling. Each painting reflects a blend of nostalgia, freedom, and feminine identity—where a single face becomes a vessel for many destinations.
Flowing hair becomes a narrative landscape filled with symbols from memory: fish, waves, lace, and decorative patterns. These details serve as emotional cues, representing thoughts, places, and quiet reflections. Her art invites viewers to pause, interpret, and wander through a world that is both personal and universal.

“Ocean Memory”

This piece reflects Southern Thailand’s coastal rhythm. Flowing strands form an undersea world where batik-inspired fish glide through currents of thought. The scalloped patterns echo traditional pateh cloth, evoking motion, calm, and memory through color. Each fish becomes a story, swimming freely through the artist’s tide of childhood dreams.
“Blossoms in Her Mind”

Lace flowers and vibrant pateh-like fish move through hair ablaze with tropical energy. Inspired by Southern Thai gardens and temple cloth, the piece merges femininity and fantasy. The floral motifs echo local textile heritage—bright, soft, and strong—like the memories that bloom and float in her imagined, fragrant world.
“Earrings of Heritage”

This portrait features iconic Southern-style tassel earrings, often seen in traditional dress and local festivals. Her background blooms with floral pateh motifs—originating from Southern Thailand’s deep Malay influence in provinces like Pattani and Yala. A golden palette and intricate linework ground her in heritage, pride, and imagination.
“Seaside Whispers”

Against the backdrop of stilt houses and sand, her windswept hair carries tales of Andaman life. Decorative fish swim through tangled memory, while a small cat quietly witnesses the scene. The pearls, waves, and seaside palette pay tribute to Southern Thai coastal villages—where daily life and dreams coexist in rhythm.
About the Artist
Kallaya Pechpong is a Phuket-based artist and art educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Silpakorn University and has dedicated much of her career to nurturing creativity in the classroom while continuing to explore her own artistic journey.
Known for her calm presence and thoughtful approach to visual arts, Kallaya has participated in numerous exhibitions and community art initiatives throughout Thailand. Her background in fine arts, combined with her long-standing role as a mentor, has shaped her perspective on the value of storytelling, heritage, and emotional expression through visual media.

Join us for Soul & Sole Sunset Journeys: Volume 4 – Paint the Flavour, featuring Phuket-based artist Kallaya, whose whimsical feminine portraits explore memory, imagination, and personal storytelling.
This evening offers an informal spotlight on Kallaya’s inspirations—ranging from childhood play to Southern Thai heritage—reflected in the patterned fabrics, lace motifs, and decorative symbols woven into her dreamlike works.
Enjoy a rooftop showcase of art, conversation, tartare tastings, and classic cocktails as the sun sets over Bangtao.
