This month’s exhibition presents the captivating underwater world of Aree Kongpol, a celebrated Thai artist known for his intricate oil techniques and marine-inspired narratives. His featured collections, Andaman’s Jewels and The Spirit of the Sea, merge human emotion with the rich biodiversity of Thailand’s coastal waters.
He presents a captivating underwater-themed collection that portrays serene female faces surrounded by dynamic marine ecosystems. With radiant colors and delicate brushwork, the paintings explore harmony between femininity and ocean life, coral formations, and aquatic movement.
From flowing hair intertwined with reef textures to symbolic fish and dolphin companions, his works evoke a meditative stillness amidst vibrant underwater worlds.

“Andaman’s Jewel I”

Richly colored and vibrant, this artwork celebrates life beneath the Andaman Sea with coral, dolphins, and the glowing presence of a female figure.
The lionfish, with its vibrant fins and venomous spines, is found throughout Thailand’s coral reefs. While visually striking, it’s an invasive species in other parts of the world—but remains native to the Indo-Pacific.

A companion piece that continues the story of beauty and biodiversity in the Andaman region, highlighting dynamic marine elements and femininity.
Dolphins are frequently spotted near Phuket, especially in areas like Mai Ton Island and Similan Islands. The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin is the most commonly seen and is a sign of a healthy marine ecosystem.

A tranquil depiction of feminine emotion immersed in an oceanic landscape. Sea fans and coral details wrap around a centered figure, evoking stillness and connection.
The Andaman Sea is home to over 400 species of coral and 300 species of reef fish. One of its most iconic features is the sea fan coral, which thrives in areas with strong water currents and symbolizes resilience in ever-changing environments.
“The Spirit of the Sea II”

A continuation of the theme, this piece presents a harmonious balance between serenity and natural movement under the sea.
Thailand’s marine parks—like Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi—are internationally protected zones due to their high biodiversity. Many species of soft coral and reef fish rely on these habitats for breeding and survival.
About the Artist
Aree Kongpol is a Thai artist from Trang Province known for his refined oil painting technique that blends human expression with natural and spiritual elements. A graduate in Art Education from Prince of Songkhla University, Pattani, he formerly taught at Phuket Rajabhat and Songkhla University before dedicating himself fully to his art. His distinctive style has been featured in national and international exhibitions, including the Thailand Biennale Korat 2021 and workshops in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Krabi. He is also the author of Oil Painting of Ari Kongphon, a book that introduces his self-developed approach, and is recognized for his series of over 100 portraits honoring King Rama IX.

This intimate talk will explore the emotional and ecological depth of his collections, Andaman’s Jewels and The Spirit of the Sea.
