Sole & Soul Sunset Journeys:

Volume #8

Art Exhibition

Location: Hotel Lobby, Sole Mio Boutique Hotel & Wellness, Bangtao, Phuket

Colors of the Sea

In her Colors of the Sea series, Monthira Khonthiang transforms the ocean into a dreamscape alive with playful creatures and vibrant hues. Each canvas invites viewers beneath the waves, where imagination and conservation meet. Through a pop-art lens, she renders sea life in candy-colored palettes, reminding us of both the joy and fragility of marine ecosystems.

Monthira’s work captures not only the fantasy of an underwater paradise but also a subtle call to awareness: the importance of protecting ocean habitats that inspire wonder and sustain life.

Featured Artworks

  • Colors of the Sea No.1 – Manta Rays : Two manta rays glide through neon reefs surrounded by corals and jellyfish. Known as the “gentle giants” of the sea, manta rays are celebrated for their grace yet threatened by overfishing. Monthira paints them in radiant colors, transforming them into symbols of freedom and resilience.
  • Colors of the Sea No.2 – Sea Turtles : A mother turtle and hatchling journey through a whimsical coral kingdom, accompanied by clownfish. In Thai waters, sea turtles are revered yet endangered. The work evokes generational continuity, portraying the ocean as both playground and sanctuary.
  • Colors of the Sea No.3 – Dolphins : A pod of dolphins leaps through a pastel seascape dotted with floating cottages and coral blooms. Dolphins, long associated with intelligence and harmony, embody the playful optimism that Monthira threads through her underwater world.
  • Colors of the Sea No.4 – Seals : Two seals drift above a coral forest glowing with candy-colored textures. While not native to the Andaman Sea, seals represent innocence and joy. Monthira includes them as dreamlike visitors, a reminder of how interconnected global ecosystems are—and how fragile.
