Sole Mio Boutique Hotel & Wellness is honored to present Root Across Land & Sea by Phuket-based artist Soon Papan, in collaboration with Napas Art Gallery. Originally from Thailand’s northeastern Isan region, Soon Papan’s evocative paintings weave together personal memory, traditional objects, and the tranquil rhythms of Phuket’s coastal landscapes. His work explores themes of heritage, migration, and belonging, connecting the textures of his rural roots with the meditative movement of the sea.

Featured Artworks

• Rocky Shore Behind Koh Katha – A serene depiction of the rocky shoreline behind Koh Katha, a small islet off Layan Beach, accessible at low tide. Surrounded by mangrove canals and fishing boats, this piece captures a quiet space of solitude and connection.
• Three Khit Pillows Facing the Beach – Inspired by Isan’s handwoven khit pillows, symbols of familial care, this work faces Phuket’s ocean, blending past and present to reflect the artist’s journey between two homes.
• The Boy on the Sunset Beach – A heartfelt portrait of the artist’s son at Bangtao Beach, capturing a universal sense of presence, growth, and belonging in a familiar Phuket family scene.
• Koh Pling in the Evening – A tranquil portrayal of Koh Pling, a coral-rich island off Naiyang Beach, walkable at low tide. Its whimsical beauty and serene details evoke the intimate magic of Phuket’s lesser-known shores.

About the Artist

Soon Papan, originally from Thailand’s Isan region, is a Phuket-based artist whose work is deeply rooted in personal memory, tradition, and the interplay of rural and coastal identities. With a background in painting and community exhibitions, he brings quiet storytelling to life through texture, space, and symbolism. This exhibition marks his first collaboration with Napas Art Gallery at Sole Mio Boutique Hotel & Wellness, offering a poignant exploration of heritage and place.

Join us for an intimate evening as Soon Papan shares the inspirations behind Root Across Land & Sea, exploring the dialogue between memory, tradition, and coastal life. This rooftop showcase, set against Bangtao’s golden sunset, features an artist talk, physiotherapy-inspired tasting stations, and wellness cocktails, blending art and wellbeing in a moment of stillness and reflection. Limited seating—reservations are highly recommended.
