This August, Sole Mio Boutique Hotel & Wellness is delighted to present Dhewina: Breath of the Reef, a contemporary art exhibition by Thai artist Aree Kongpol.

Inspired by the beauty of the Andaman Sea, the exhibition explores the connection between humanity and the marine world through expressive paintings that blend nature with imagination. At the heart of the collection is Dhewina, a mythical guardian of the ocean who represents both the beauty and fragility of coral reefs, inviting visitors to appreciate and reflect on the world beneath the waves.

Featured Artworks

Dhewina: Breath of the Reef portrays a mythical guardian whose flowing hair transforms into living coral, symbolising the inseparable relationship between humanity and the marine ecosystem. While celebrating the beauty of the underwater world, the artwork also serves as a gentle reminder of its delicate balance and the importance of protecting our oceans.

The exhibition features a collection of four artworks, including Dhewina: Breath of the Reef. Together, they present Aree Kongpol’s contemporary interpretation of the Andaman Sea through mythology, marine life and expressive storytelling.

About the Artist

Born in Trang Province, Thailand, Aree Kongpol is a contemporary artist whose work is inspired by nature, spirituality and the ever-changing beauty of the Andaman Sea. After graduating in Art Education from Prince of Songkla University, he established his artistic career in Phuket, where the sea became one of the defining influences on his creative journey.

His paintings combine expressive colours, symbolic forms and contemporary storytelling to explore the relationship between humanity and nature. Through both solo and group exhibitions in Thailand and abroad, Aree continues to share his passion for art while contributing to the growth of Southern Thailand’s contemporary art community.
